The material that goes into our Remedywear clothing is a soft, stretchy blend of sustainably and responsibly made natural fibers plus latex free elastane for stretch. 

The material in our clothing is made of:

• 75% lycocell/TENCEL™ 

• 19% Smartcel™ Sensitive (lyocell/TENCEL™ + zinc)

• 6% Elastane

Our first fiber, TENCEL™, is made from renewable beech wood. The pulp gets made into a smooth fiber using a low-waste eco-friendly closed loop process. This soothing fabric helps control odor, wick moisture, and inhibit the growth of bacteria.

Our second fiber, Smartcel™ Sensitive, embeds millions of tiny zinc oxide particles directly into TENCEL™ fabric, so the zinc and it’s anti-inflammatory properties are long-lasting.

Finally, Remedywear also contains a small amount of latex-free elastane to add stretch for a flattering fit. 

Remedywear clothing is made with zinc oxide for skin conditions like dermatitis and psoriasis. Zinc oxide not only stops bacterial growth and blocks odor, but it’s also soothing to the skin thanks to it’s anti-inflammatory properties. Zinc oxide is actually an active ingredient in calamine, the stuff that goes into anti-itch, soothing calamine lotion as well as countless creams for eczema, psoriasis and other inflamed skin conditions. It can also be found in creams for diaper rash, which believe it or not is a form of dermatitis!

Zinc is great for calming irritated, inflamed skin. The link between zinc and eczema is well known and that’s why it’s a key factor in Remedywear. 

Yes! Even newborns! Our fabrics, threads and dyes have the highest product class designation, Okeo Tex 100 certified, making them safe for the most delicate and sensitive skin, including those prone to allergies. We offer all-natural, dye-free fabrics as well as options with allergy-friendly dyes that are phenylenediamine-free.

The zinc particles in the clothing are long-lasting and won’t get absorbed by the skin, even dry, cracked, or irritated skin. The zinc we use is perfectly safe for use in newborns and babies. 

In a clinical study [1], our blend of TENCEL and Smartcel™ Sensitive was proven to reduce the severity of atopic dermatitis, reduce itchiness and improve quality of sleep when worn overnight for three consecutive nights.

Absolutely! Remedywear can be used wet or dry, with or without emollients, and even with steroid creams as prescribed by your doctor. Covering flare-up patches with Remedywear clothing will soothe the skin and help topical treatments stay in place to work their magic longer. We recommend to always check with a medical professional before trying any new eczema treatment.

Absolutely! However, our eczema and psoriasis clothing is great for dry wrapping as well. In fact, we recommend wearing them dry first because studies show they work great this way AND dry wrapping is just so much easier and less messy. If you need to take things to the next level, you can certainly wear them wet. However, our garments are not “medical devices” (yet, we’re working on that) and therefore we cannot suggest they be used as wet dressings.

Yes, all fabric and materials are free of latex, nylon, nickel and phenylenediamine (which is what usually causes people to react to black/dark dyes). We do use recycled polyester in our socks and our finishing yarn for seams is made from poly/cotton for durability. We tried straight cotton and it just didn’t hold up sadly. Our covered waistbands are made from latex free elastic and even the safety pin to attach our recycled paper hangtags is nickel free! Can you tell we take allergies seriously?

Remedywear does not use any nickel finishes. The zinc particles added to the fabric do not get absorbed into the body and should not cause irritation or allergic reaction, so our clothing is safe for people with metal allergies. However, at the first sign of irritation, infection, rash, or discomfort and immediately discontinue use of Remedywear garments contact a medical professional.

Our products are designed for use during the day under clothing or at night as pajamas. Our natural fibers are soft, cool, and breathable like other classic natural fibers like cotton, linen, or silk. They can also be worn at the first signs of a dry skin rash or eczema flare-up.

Natural undyed fabric gets easily discolored and dingy, especially when using natural detergents and soaps, which we recommend for washing Remedywear. So, we wanted to offer materials in colors that will last and stay vibrant and fresh looking after every wash. Our dyes are phenylenediamine free and disperse dye free, so they don’t contain harsh chemicals, and Okeo Tex 100 certified to be safe for individuals with allergies, which means that they meet rigorous scientific standards according to a worldwide independent, consistent testing system for textiles. The fabric we use is rated in the highest product class, safe for use in newborns, babies, children, and people with allergies and sensitive skin. We still offer natural white fabrics for those who prefer to avoid dyes of any kind.

Seam finishing is a very important part of the sewing process. It makes the garment look finished and prevents the fabric edges from fraying. We made our product with inner seams because we feel they are stronger this way, but if they rub you the wrong way, just flip them inside out. Most of our clothing designs can be worn inside out. Our tags are attached in a special way making them easy to remove, so nobody has to know it wasn’t designed with outer seams!  We just want you to be comfortable, look great, and feel great.

We provide a size chart for every product. Find the right measurements to determine the best size. Remedywear works best if it is worn close to the skin, but not too tight. Even if you have purchased a product with us before, be sure to take a look at the size chart as some patterns have a different fit and drape.

Our adults sizes are unisex, but based on men’s sizing. If you are between sizes, unsure of which one to choose, or have any questions, please contact us before purchasing.

To get the best performance out of your Remedywear garments, we suggest you do the following. Wash before your first use. Machine wash on a gentle cycle with cold water (<40 degrees C) using a mild plant or mineral based detergent with no fluorescent whitening agents. Do not use fabric softeners or conditioners. Do not bleach. Do not dry clean.

Yes! You can tumble dry clothes on a gentle cycle at low temperature. It won’t harm the natural fibers or the zinc protection woven into the clothes. However, all clothes made from natural fibers last longer when hung to air dry. You can also iron clothes at a low temperature setting (less than 110°C)..
